Ruminants and Their Shroom Habitats SAMUI ELEPHANT DUNG HABITATS (NA MUANG AND BAN CHEWANG)
Koh Samui, Thailand and the Queen's Agricultural Center, Bangkok

Hello to all lovers of mushrooms. Here is a photographic essay of some of the various habitats of Psilocybe cubensis/Psilocybe subcubensis,Bolbitius species, Coprinus species, Conocybe species, Panaeolus antillarum and Panaeolus sphinctrinus, Paddy Straw Mushrooms (Volvariella Volvacea). All of these species can be found inthe dung of elephants. This Pictorial features mushrooms found inthe dung of the Asian Elephants from the Palacve Agricultural Gardens in Bangkok and from the Elephant dung dump site near Ban Chewang and Na Muang, Koh Samui, Thailand. Additional elephant dung habitat images can also be viewed in the Ruminants and Habitats of Cambodia Pictorial in this setion of this "Tales of the Shrooms" web-site. A word of caution. I caught an episode of hook-worms from lying down in elephant dung across my chest and on my feet while walking around in the elephant dung Thai style with open tongs on my feet.

BANGKOK, THAILAND
A species of the common Paddy Straw Mushroom (Volvariella Volvacea) collected at the Queen of Thailand's Agricultural Center

BAN CHEWANG ELEPHANT DUNG DUMP AND Jungle Trek Ride Site
The Elephants and their dung shrooms at Ban Chewang, Koh Samui. On the right are a grouping of Coprinus spp.

Currently I have not yet had these mushrooms identified, but they are a pretty pink color.

On the left is a Conocybe or Bolbitius or related to the shroom directly above and on the right we have Panaeolus antillarum.

NA MUANG, ELEPHANT DUNG DUMP SITE, KOH SAMUI, THAILAND
Here we have an elephant taking a dump.

On the left we have Conocybe spp. and on the right both Conocybe spp. and Panaeolus sphinctrinus.

A large couple of large specimens of a species of Conocybe.

And here we have five cool images of a species of Coprinus. Notice the middle image resembles a flower petal

and here we have Psilocybe cubensis in elephant dung manure. The red shirt person is an Exotic forays participant and the girl with the shroom works with the elephants. She presented me with that mushrooms.

And more Paddy Straw Mushrooms (Volvariella Volvacea) from the elephant dung dump site at Na Muang.
